AUCTION_IC_ALLOCATIONS

AUCTION_IC_ALLOCATIONS supports the Settlement Residue Auction by providing the basis for setting up contracts for individual tranches. AUCTION_IC_ALLOCATIONS shows the default definitions for the total number of units and proportion applicable to each directional interconnector for a specified auction quarter.

AUCTION_IC_ALLOCATIONS is public data, and is available to all participants.

Source

Updates are usually quarterly as auctions are held from Settlement Residue Auction team's SRIS interface.

Volume

AUCTION_IC_ALLOCATIONS contains a maximum of 100 records per year.

FROMREGIONID

Nominated source region for Interconnector

The SQL type is VARCHAR2(10). This is actually a factor/enum, with values:

  • QLD1

  • VIC1

  • TAS1

  • NSW1

  • SA1

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

INTERCONNECTORID

Contracted Interconnector Identifier

SQL Type: VARCHAR2(10) Polars Type: pl.Categorical

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

  • NSW1-QLD1
  • NSW1-SA1
  • T-V-MNSP1
  • V-SA
  • VIC1-NSW1

QUARTER

SRA Contracted Quarter

SQL Type: NUMBER(1,0) Polars Type: pl.Int8

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

Example: 4

VERSIONNO

Version of data for other key data - a higher version for same key data takes precedence

SQL Type: NUMBER(3,0) Polars Type: pl.UInt16

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

Example: 1

AUCTIONFEE

Daily auction fee

SQL Type: NUMBER(17,5) Polars Type: pl.Float64

This column is not mandatory.

Example: 0

AUCTIONFEE_SALES

Fees for Cancelled Units.

SQL Type: NUMBER(18,8) Polars Type: pl.Float64

This column is not mandatory.

CHANGEDATE

Authorisation date

SQL Type: DATE Polars Type: pl.Date()

This column is not mandatory.

Example: 2026/10/01 00:00:00

Note that AEMO represents dates as datetimes with a midnight time component.

CHANGEDBY

Name of person authorising this data set

SQL Type: VARCHAR2(15) Polars Type: str

This column is not mandatory.

LASTCHANGED

Last date and time record changed

MAXIMUMUNITS

Number of units on the interconnector

PROPORTION

Percentage of the total residue for each Unit

SQL Type: NUMBER(8,5) Polars Type: pl.Float64

This column is not mandatory.

Examples: 0.06666, 0.2

Usually quarterly after each settlement residue auction

Polars

Casting is enums, categoricals etc is not essential, but may speed up parsing. Swapping int for pl.UInt16, pl.Int32 would also speed up parsing. However some of the datatypes are inferred, so they may be wrong.

This code deduplicates for you. Deduplication is normally only required across multiple months.

This code assumes that all columns are present, which may not be true for older files.

Each year of data is approximately 7 KB when zipped, 71 KB as unzipped CSV.
