SPDCONNECTIONPOINTCONSTRAINT

SPDCONNECTIONPOINTCONSTRAINT sets out details of connections point constraints issued in dispatch, predispatch and STPASA.

The addition of the BIDTYPE field to SPDCONNECTIONPOINTCONSTRAINT allows constraints to be applied to a dispatchable unit energy and/or Frequency Controlled Ancillary Services dispatch.

SPDCONNECTIONPOINTCONSTRAINTdata is public, so is available to all participants.

Source

SPDCONNECTIONPOINTCONSTRAINT updates whenever new connection point constraints are created.

Column Schema

BIDTYPE

Bid Type Identifier; one of (RAISE6SEC, RAISE60SEC, RAISE5MIN, LOWER6SEC, LOWER60SEC, LOWER5MIN, RAISEREG, LOWERREG)

The SQL type is VARCHAR2(12). This is actually a factor/enum, with values:

  • ENERGY

  • LOWERREG

  • LOWER60SEC

  • RAISE5MIN

  • LOWER5MIN

  • LOWER6SEC

  • RAISE60SEC

  • RAISE6SEC

  • RAISEREG

  • RAISE1SEC

  • LOWER1SEC

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

CONNECTIONPOINTID

Connection Point Identifier

SQL Type: VARCHAR2(12) Polars Type: pl.Categorical

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

Examples:

  • NAL11C
  • NBK11B
  • NBKB3B
  • NBKW1S
  • NBL21L
  • NBSF1L
  • NBSF2S
  • NCLS1C
  • NDNH1H
  • NDNS1D

EFFECTIVEDATE

Effective date of this record

SQL Type: DATE Polars Type: pl.Date()

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

Example: 2026/09/01 00:00:00

Note that AEMO represents dates as datetimes with a midnight time component.

GENCONID

Generic Constraint Identifier

SQL Type: VARCHAR2(20) Polars Type: pl.Categorical

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

Examples:

  • #DRYCGT1_D_E
  • #DRYCGT2_D_E
  • #R036713_001_RAMP_F
  • #R036713_001_RAMP_V
  • #R036714_001_RAMP_F
  • #R036714_001_RAMP_V
  • #R036715_001_RAMP_F
  • #R036715_001_RAMP_V
  • #R036715_002_RAMP_F
  • #R036715_002_RAMP_V

VERSIONNO

Version no of this record for the effective date

SQL Type: NUMBER(3,0) Polars Type: pl.UInt16

This column is mandatory, and a primary key.

Example: 1

FACTOR

Constraint factor

SQL Type: NUMBER(16,6) Polars Type: pl.Float64

This column is not mandatory.

Examples: -0.181, 0.158, 1, 0.996

LASTCHANGED

Last date and time record changed

For more information, see the dedicated documentation page.

SQL Type: DATE Polars Type: pl.Datetime()

This column is not mandatory.

Example: 2026/09/01 02:06:54

New Data Timing

When a new connection point constraint is created

Code Examples

Polars

Casting is enums, categoricals etc is not essential, but may speed up parsing. Swapping int for pl.UInt16, pl.Int32 would also speed up parsing. However some of the datatypes are inferred, so they may be wrong.

This code deduplicates for you. Deduplication is normally only required across multiple months.

This code assumes that all columns are present, which may not be true for older files.

Availability

Visibility: Public

This table is in the public monthly MMSDM archive.

I have collated the list of all those files into one place, in this CSV metadata file. (Columns year, month, url, compressed_size in bytes).

The earliest available data is month 1 of 2015. The most recent available data is month 9 of 2026.

Every month in between has a file. (No gaps.)

Data Size

Each year of data is approximately 8 MB when zipped, 84 MB as unzipped CSV.

Deduplication and PDR Loader Configuration

The primary keys are:

The transaction type is "insert", which means that you will usually not see duplicate data. If you do, you can deduplicate based on the primary keys, without sorting first. Rows from different files with the same primary keys should have the same values.

PDR Loader configuration is:

Report Name Report Subtype Version
SPDCPC NULL 2

This means that the CSV files start with metadata columns:

I,SPDCPC,NULL,2,...
D,SPDCPC,NULL,2,...

Indexes
